Little bluestem
A stunning warm-season grass that provides multiple-season interest. Fine blue-green leaves provide a backdrop to the summer garden. Flower-bearing stems that hold feathery seed tufts sparkle in autumn light and shift to shades of gold and burgundy. Tolerates poor soils. Host plant for skipper butterflies; seeds provide food for birds.
Average to dry soil, sun, 3-4’ tall.
